Human Ecology Review is the official journal of the Society for Human Ecology (SHE) and is published semi-annually in open access online format by ANU Press. It is also available to member and institutional subscribers in hard copy format.

Aims and Scope

Human Ecology Review publishes peer-reviewed interdisciplinary research on all aspects of human–environment interactions and reviews books of relevance to the journal’s subject matter and the interest of its readers. In the spirit of open access to knowledge and research, HER does not have author fees and is free to download. Publication costs are covered by membership fees, so please consider supporting SHE in making HER available by becoming a member.

Human Ecology Review is indexed or abstracted in Environment Abstracts, Environmental Knowledgebase, Environmental Periodicals Bibliography, Linguistic and Language Behavior Abstracts, Social Planning and Policy Abstracts, and Sociological Abstracts. Back issues to 2014 are available free online from ANU Press, as are print-on-demand hardcopies for a fee. All back issues are available from JSTOR . For those without access to JSTOR, some issues up to 2011 can be found here, although this site is no longer maintained. Recent issues are also available via ProQuest.
