Dear Members and Friends:
This is the notice for 2021 membership renewal with the Society for Human Ecology. Membership is just US $70 regular and $35 for students and individuals from developing nations. Membership renewal may be completed in two ways:
1. Online by clicking this link: http://www.cvent.com/d/hhqwn2/3W
2. Mail or fax by printing the attached .pdf membership form
The worldwide COVID-19 situation made for a challenging 2020 year everywhere. It was with regret that we were unable to hold the July celebration of SHE’s XXIVth International Conference: “Social Dynamics and Global Challenges: The Role of Human Ecology in the 21st Century” — co-organized by the Brazilian Society for Human Ecology (SABEH). Despite this set-back, plans are now underway to re-establish our future conference agenda.
The Society in the meantime has been designing an entirely new website — to be launched at the outset of the 2021 new year – with an agenda of forthcoming activities, including a quarterly newsletter and a variety of new ‘interactive’ initiatives for membership exchanges.
COVID-19 was disruptive for Human Ecology Review processing as well. But 2020’s volume 26:1 is currently in press, and volume 26:2 — a special issue on Network Analysis — is complete, in copyediting, and will be out early 2021. Hopefully, 2021’s production of volumes 27:1 & 2 should be smoother as some degree of normality returns.
The good news is our journal continues to attract strong readership. We have had 37,500 downloads (all online issues) year to date, bringing total downloads since we went into online format to over 130,000. This is testimony to the benefits of keeping HER as a free open access journal under a creative commons license (and with no author page charges). Attached here you will find the HER library recommendation form. We would appreciate you forwarding it to your institutional librarian for adoption.
Further information and instructions for authors is at https://societyforhumanecology.org/human-ecology-homepage/human-ecology-review/instuctions-for-authors/ All current and back HER issues are at https://press.anu.edu.au/publications/journals/human-ecology-review Finally, we are always looking for volunteer reviewers. If you can help, please send your contact details and areas of interest to info@societyforhumanecology.org Do, please, renew your membership and help us keep research and scholarship in Human Ecology open to all readers and contributors.
As we continue to broaden our horizons, we believe that SHE is especially well positioned to play a key role in stimulating and deepening collaborations among colleagues all over the world.
Best regards,
