Plans are well underway for SHE’s XXIVth International Conference — “Social Dynamics and Global Challenges: The Role of Human Ecology in the 21st Century” — organized by the Brazilian Society for Human Ecology (SABEH) in cooperation with Universidade Federal do Vale do São Francisco (UNIVASF) and Universidade do Estado da Bahia (UNEB), in Juazeiro, Bahia and Petrolina, Pernambuco, Brazil — July 19th to 22nd 2020.  You should have received the Call for Participation and Abstracts, or can find it at    Please forward it to interested colleagues. You can also follow us on Twitter @humanecology and on Facebook. We hope to see you there!

Our society’s journal, Human Ecology Review (HER) continues to perform strongly in its online format (see Total year to date downloads of 26,634 have already exceeded the total for 2018 (26,072) with volume 25 issue 2 not yet released. Our cumulative total (from 2014) is 78,004. Back issues continue to attract readership with HER 24:2 (2018) downloaded 4,866 times in 2019 and even HER 20:2 (2014) has had 1,390 downloads so far this year. As you may be aware HER is free open access under a creative commons license and charges no author pages. This is in keeping with our commitment to democratic knowledge access and sharing. We can only do this through the support of your membership fees. Do, please, renew your membership and help us keep making research and scholarship in Human Ecology open to readers and contributors across the world, irrespective of their circumstances. Do also please consider HER for your own publications and volunteer reviewers are always welcome. Further information, including instructions for authors can be found on the society webpage at

As we continue to broaden our horizons, we believe that SHE is especially well positioned to play a key role in stimulating and deepening fruitful collaborations among colleagues all over the world.

Attached below you will find the HER library recommendation form. We would appreciate you forwarding it to your institutional librarian for adoption. Thank you for your consideration.
